The objective of administering in-VIGOR-ate® is to allow each chick, poult or bird to consume an effective dose that will provide the valued intended supplementation.
Newly Placed Chicks or Poults
Administer in-VIGOR-ate® daily based on the amount of anticipated daily water consumption.
It is important that the entire water system is filled with water containing in-VIGOR-ate® when the birds are placed so that they are consuming the product as soon as they begin to drink. This requires filling the lines and letting the water run through the entire system; addition of a vaccine coloring agent to the stock solution along with in-VIGOR-ate® can be a useful monitor to assure this objective.
If supplemental drinkers are utilized during the first few days post-placement, it is critical to have the water contain in-VIGOR-ate® mixed at the recommended level.
All Other Applications
Administer in-VIGOR-ate® daily based on the amount of anticipated daily water consumption.
Harmony with Water Sanitation Programs
Water sanitation is a crucial tool to maintain good flock health and performance. Various products containing acids, peroxides or chlorinating agents are utilized to reduce the microbial contamination in the water supply. Chlorine levels of 2 to 5 ppm are common during such programs.
Growers have concern that chlorine levels can be detrimental to the viability of any probiotics administered in the drinking water. Some suspend chlorination for the time probiotics are implemented or they add a vaccine stabilizer.
The probiotic bacteria within in-VIGOR-ate® have been tested at Iowa State University. They are found to be bile resistant and totally viable at chlorine levels as high as 15 ppm. Therefore, the sanitation programs can continue to be implemented when in-VIGOR-ate® is administered.
Minimizing Biofilm Formation
The formulation of in-VIGOR-ate® does contain citric acid and vitamins that will feed the micro-organisms in the water that produce biofilm. For this reason, we recommend limiting the administration of in-VIGOR-ate® to no more than 5 consecutive days to be followed by line cleaning as needed.
